Position description

The Department of Languages and Applied Linguistics [http://language.ucsc.edu/] at the University of California, Santa Cruz is developing a pool of qualified temporary English Language instructors who could be called upon, as needed, to teach occasional courses during either the academic year or in Summer Session. We welcome applications in the following area: ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES. The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other assigned duties, and who have experience teaching academic English skills to international and domestic learners of English. Candidates are expected to have native or near-native proficiency in English. Candidates are also expected to have extensive training in language pedagogy.

RANK: Lecturer.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics or related field and one year of independent teaching of English for Academic Purposes to non-native English speakers at the university level.

POSITION AVAILABLE: As openings occur, contingent upon availability of funding.
