The Music Department [http://music.ucsc.edu/] at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of part-time Lecturers who may be called upon to teach various courses at the lower and upper division course level. We seek applications from outstanding candidates with relevant teaching experience who can provide individual music lessons to students. Music instruction is given on Bassoon, Oboe, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Piano, Harpsichord, Classical Guitar, Voice, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Drumset, Percussion, Harp, and other instruments as required.
Applicants with expertise in college level teaching experience or who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the Music undergraduate and graduate programs (Music Ph.D., D.M.A, and M.A.) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Commensurate with qualifications and experience and the particular courses the Lecturer is appointed to teach. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.
Master’s Degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Music at the time of application; or four years of artistic and creative work consisting of a national and/or international record of performances, exhibitions, or installations in music venues, museums, galleries, and festivals, and evidence of scholarship in peer-reviewed journals, web, and/or book publications.
Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit’s instructional need and the availability of funding. Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.
