The Department of Anthropology [https://anthro.ucsc.edu/] at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of part-time Lecturers who may be appointed to teach courses in the area of archaeology, under the direction of the Anthropology Department Chair. We seek an instructor whose area of expertise complements the department’s current strengths in pre-colonial and early post-colonial history of Africa, Mesoamerica, the Caribbean, and western North America. Applicants should be prepared to teach primarily undergraduate courses.
The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other assigned duties.
Commensurate with qualifications and experience and the particular courses the Lecturer is appointed to teach. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.
Master’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Anthropology or related field at the time of application and evidence of teaching experience at the university level.
Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit’s instructional need and the availability of funding. Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.
