Position description

The Mathematics Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz invites applications for a position in Number Theory/Math Cryptography at the Assistant Professor (tenure-track) level. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate degree programs, teach, mentor and advise students at the graduate and undergraduate level individually and in the classroom, and undertake service obligations for the department and campus consistent with a ladder-rank faculty member. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to research and professional leadership, and must be able to work with students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. We seek colleagues who will interact and collaborate with faculty from our Department as well as build connections with researchers in other STEM departments on campus such as Physics or Applied Mathematics.

ACADEMIC TITLE
Assistant Professor

SALARY
Commensurate with qualifications and experience; academic year (nine-month basis).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
A PhD or equivalent foreign degree in mathematics or a closely related field, degree requirements expected to be completed no later than June 30, 2020; demonstrated record of research and teaching.

POSITION AVAILABLE
July 1, 2020, with academic year beginning September 2020. Degree requirements must be completed by June 30, 2020 for employment beyond that date.
