The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a Junior Specialist. Under the direction of Associate Professor Mircea Teodorescu, the Junior Specialist will participate in developing a new generation of Microelectrode array (MEA) sensors for sensing the neural connections in Organoid cortical models and a new electronic interface platform between the MEAs and the data recording instrument. The selected candidate will be expected to perform tasks in an organized manner, work accurately, meet deadlines, communicate results, and successfully work as an integral member of a research team.

Applicants with experience in using computer-aided design platforms, developing electronic circuits, and who have experience with rapid-prototyping, product fabrication in a clean room environment, and manufacturing of biomedical devices (e.g., fabricating, assembling, and testing) are strongly encouraged to apply.

Junior Specialist

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.


  • Baccalaureate degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related field at the time of application.
  • One year of research experience relevant to the advertised position.
