Position overview

Position title: Assistant Specialist
Salary range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Percent time: 35% time, with the possibility of increase ( up to 100% time) based upon the availability of funding and/or work.
Anticipated start: July 1, 2021.
Position duration: Two months.

Position description

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an Assistant Specialist. Under the direction of Gabriel Elkaim, the Assistant Specialist will aide in the development of an automated nasopharyngeal swabbing robot. This will be under an extremely tight schedule, and thus rapid prototyping skills are paramount.

Applicants with expertise in SolidWorks, Embedded Programming (in C), and rapid prototyping are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

M.S. (or an equivalent foreign degree) in engineering, or closely related field and demonstrated experience in developing prototypes (mechanical/electrical/software prototyping).
