Position title: Wang Laboratory in MCDB, Junior Specialist
Salary range: Starting at $46,800 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Percent time: Full-time (100%)
Anticipated start: July 1, 2022. Degree requirement must be completed by June 9, 2022 for employment effective July 1, 2022 and beyond.
Position duration: Initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of reappointment. Should the hiring unit propose reappointment; a review to assess performance will be conducted. Reappointment is also contingent upon the availability of funding.

Position description

The Department of Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a junior specialist. Under the direction of Associate Professor Zhu Wang, the junior specialist will contribute to research aimed at understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms in prostate and bladder cancer progression. The selected candidate will aid other lab members in their research projects and will be engaged in procedures such as mouse breeding and genotyping, tissue dissection and dissociation, mouse surgeries, tissue transplantation, cell culture, and imaging. The selected candidate will also have opportunities to develop new technical expertise and perform their own research project.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in biology or related discipline. It is expected that the degree requirement will be completed by June 9, 2022.
  • At least three months of laboratory research experience.
