Baskin Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an Experiential Learning Coordinator. Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs, the Experiential Learning Coordinator will plan, coordinate, execute, and evaluate programs which provide experiential learning experiences to undergraduate students in Baskin Engineering. The overall goal of the position is to advance high-impact experiential learning and entrepreneurial thinking, mentored by faculty and staff, as an element of a UC Santa Cruz education, and strengthen infrastructure to coordinate, assess, and sustain high-quality experiential learning.
In the area of program planning, the Experiential Learning Coordinator will work with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs and other faculty within Baskin Engineering to complete the following activities:
- Perform background research on experiential learning programs both within UC Santa Cruz, the UC system, and other universities.
- Develop concepts for novel experiential learning programs
- Prepare briefing materials and write internal proposals within UCSC for financial and staff support for experiential learning programs.
- Write proposals to funding agencies to gain financial support for experiential learning programs.
In the area of program coordination and execution, the Experiential Learning Coordinator will be assigned the following responsibilities:
- Prepare program descriptions, course proposals, proposed budgets, and other materials related to the programmatic elements of the experiential learning programs.
- Develop implementation plans for funded co-curricular activities, including writing position descriptions & being involved in hiring of staff, identification of space requirements, assisting with equipment purchases.
Program evaluation involves developing approaches for measuring and evaluating the outcomes of the experiential learning programs.
Applicants with expertise in the design and implementation of creative spaces or maker spaces; or with expertise in the design and implementation of first year engineering design programs; or with expertise in the design of experiential learning programs; or with expertise in the rigorous assessment of academic programs are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
Ph.D., or a master's degree (MEd, MA, or MS) plus five years' experience with experiential learning programs. Equivalent foreign degrees will be considered and applicants' degrees must be in an engineering, science, design or education discipline.
