Position description

The Physics Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar. Under the direction of Associate Professor Jairo Velasco Jr., the postdoctoral scholar will carry out research projects in the Velasco group, which is currently focused on the study of point defects in two-dimensional (2D) materials via scanning probe microscopies, such as scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy (STM/STS) and non-contact atomic force microscopy (nc-AFM). The Velasco lab is interested in 2D material point defects because they are being considered as a potential platform for future quantum technologies.
