Position description
The Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics (SCIPP) at the University of California, Santa Cruz invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar position in the ATLAS group at SCIPP.
As part of the ATLAS Collaboration on the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, SCIPP has made major contributions to silicon particle detector development and charged particle tracking in ATLAS. The group is also active in physics analysis of Higgs bosons, W/Z bosons, and signatures of supersymmetry and new physics.
Under the direction of SCIPP Director Professor Jason Nielsen and working in collaboration with SCIPP ATLAS group members, the postdoctoral scholar is expected to play a leading role in the construction and testing of ITk silicon strip modules in the SCIPP laboratories. The postdoctoral scholar is also expected to develop and lead new physics data analysis efforts to leverage the expected ATLAS Run 3 dataset.
Applicants with expertise in silicon detector testing or other large-scale detector systems are encouraged to apply.
