Position title: Corbett-Detig Lab: Assistant Project Scientist
Salary range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The posted UCSC Salary Scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See the scale titled, REPRESENTED PROJECT_(E.G., SCIENTIST) SERIES BUSINESS/ECONOMICS/ENGINEERING FISCAL YEAR. “Off-scale salaries”, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions. A reasonable estimate for this position is $91,000 - $95,900.
Percent time: Full-time (100%)
Anticipated start: As soon as possible after the initial review of applications.
Position duration: Initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of reappointment. Should the hiring unit propose reappointment; a review to assess performance will be conducted. Reappointment is also contingent upon the availability of funding.

Position description

The Corbett-Detig lab in the UCSC Genomics Institute seeks qualified candidates for a population genomic data processing and analysis assistant project scientist.

The assistant project scientist will direct and oversee our genomic data processing. This includes aggregation of data for analysis, genotype inference, quality control, and genome analysis.

Research activities include, but are not restricted to, dataset aggregation, analysis and distribution for collaborators via accessible web portals. Additionally, the assistant project scientist will lead efforts to analyze and quality control newly sequenced datasets coming from a variety of sources and project investigators distributed across the University of California.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
  • A Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in evolutionary genomics or a related field.
  • Experience with high throughput population genomics and cloud-based bioinformatic workflows.
