Position description
The Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology Department (https://mcd.ucsc.edu/) at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for postdoctoral scholars who will work under the direction of Assistant Professor Euiseok Kim. The Kim Lab is excited to announce the availability of several NIH-funded postdoctoral research fellowships, funded by the BRAIN Initiative and other R01s. We are seeking dynamic and motivated individuals to join our innovative and stimulating research group. Our lab aims to uncover the fundamental principles of neural connectivity formation and its impact on animal perception and behavior. We take a multidisciplinary approach by combining cutting-edge technologies such as engineering novel neural circuit tracing systems, utilizing next-generation trans-synaptic viral tracers, mouse genetics, single-cell genome-wide sequencing, and in vivo imaging.
We offer exceptional research opportunities to take your scientific career to the next level, as well as strong academic interactions and collaborations across UCSC's top-tier neuroscience and molecular biology labs, and beyond. To learn more, visit our website at http://www.ejkimlab.com/.
UCSC is a prestigious institution within the UC system, with a world-renowned Genomics Institute and exceptional neuroscience and molecular biology labs. Our location in the small town of Santa Cruz, nestled among the majestic redwood trees and just a short drive from San Jose/Silicon Valley or San Francisco Bay, offers a picturesque and stimulating environment for scientific exploration. UCSC offers exceptional career development programs for postdoctoral fellows, including the NIH IRACDA or T32 postdoctoral fellowship program and CIRM training program (https://graddiv.ucsc.edu/postdocs/training-mentoring.html).
We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise, including (neuro)developmental biology with genomics experience, molecular biology, virus engineering, electrophysiology and imaging, mouse surgery and handling related to neural circuit tracing and manipulations, and molecular and cellular neuroscience.
