Description

The University of California, Santa Cruz invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Scholar in the ATLAS Group at SCIPP (http://scipp.ucsc.edu/).

SCIPP is a member of the ATLAS Collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) facility at the CERN laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland. SCIPP has made a major contribution to the Semi-Conductor Tracker, and now plays a significant role in the pixel offline software and event reconstruction in the design and prototyping of the Silicon detectors for the Phase-2 upgrade. The group is active in searches for supersymmetry and exotic physics, as well as in Standard Model and Higgs boson measurements. The data analysis efforts leverage expertise in tracking, flavour tagging, and the reconstruction of photons and leptons.

Working at CERN in close collaboration with SCIPP faculty, the successful candidate is expected to play a leading role in further developing the group activities in the ATLAS pixel offline software, tracking and flavour tagging studies and physics data analysis exploiting their performance. Applicants with expertise in pixel detectors, tracking and event reconstruction, physics object performance and physics data analysis are strongly encouraged to apply.
