Position description

The Film and Digital Media Department [http://film.ucsc.edu/] at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of part-time Lecturers who may be appointed to teach courses in the areas of digital media production and/or the critical study of digital media.

Qualified applicants with university teaching experience or who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the FDM undergraduate and graduate programs (Ph.D. and Social Documentation M.F.A) are strongly encouraged to apply.

ACADEMIC TITLE
Lecturer

SALARY
Commensurate with qualifications and experience and the particular courses the Lecturer is appointed to teach. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.

Minimum $7188 (based on the annual salary $57,509 listed in the 2018-19 salary scales) per 5-unit course during the academic year. The campus operates on a schedule of three eleven-week quarters per academic year. A full time appointment is based upon an eight-course equivalency.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • M.F.A. or M.A. (or equivalent foreign degree) in digital media, digital art, or a similar creative practice or critical studies field at the time of application; OR a demonstrated record of creative work as evidenced by exhibitions in museums, galleries, film and new media festivals, public television or other venues and/or a record of publications at the time of application.
  • Teaching experience.

POSITION AVAILABLE
Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit’s instructional need and the availability of funding. Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.
