Position description

The Physics Department [https://www.physics.ucsc.edu/] at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a lecturer to teach courses in the areas of introductory and elementary Physics at the undergraduate level throughout the 2019-20 academic year (with the possibility of one to two courses during summer session). See the UCSC Course Catalog for a full list of the department’s course descriptions.

The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other assigned duties.

ACADEMIC TITLE
Lecturer

SALARY
Commensurate with qualifications and experience and the particular courses the Lecturer is appointed to teach. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree or higher (or equivalent foreign degree) in Physics or related field at the time of application. Evidence of teaching experience (as instructor of record) at the university level.

POSITION AVAILABLE
July 1, 2019, with the academic year beginning in September 2019.

DURATION OF POSITION
Initial appointment will be made at 93.75%-100% (based on the Lecturer’s course assignments during the 2019-20 academic year), with the possibility of reappointment. Should the hiring unit propose reappointment; a review to assess performance will be conducted. Reappointment is also contingent upon the availability of funding.
