Position description

The Linguistics Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of part-time lecturers who may be appointed to teach courses in our undergraduate and graduate curriculum. These could include courses within our core undergraduate sequence in level syntax, semantics, and phonology, as well as elective courses or graduate courses covering other topics, including the following: typology, phonetic analysis, language and social identity, pragmatics, or topics in computational linguistics.

SALARY
Commensurate with qualifications and experience and the particular courses the lecturer is appointed to teach. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in linguistics, or related field, at the time of application.
  • A minimum of two years’ university teaching experience.

POSITION AVAILABLE
Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit’s instructional need and the availability of funding. Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters). Appointments may also be made during Summer Session.

RECRUITMENT PERIOD
