Position description
Oakes College at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an on-going pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach seminar-style “college enhancement” courses under the direction of the Oakes College Provost. Enhancement courses contribute to the college’s longstanding interests, which are ethnic studies and the sciences from a social justice-related framework (for a complete list of Oakes College courses and their descriptions, please see the UCSC Course Catalog). Applicants should be able to draw from expertise in one or several of the major disciplinary subject areas (arts, engineering, humanities, physical and biological sciences, and social sciences).
We are especially interested in applicants with the following areas of expertise: professional experience in social justice or public service organizations, teaching experience (as the instructor of record) in higher education, and/or a terminal degree in their disciplinary subject area.

Qualifications
- M.A/M.S.; or a B.A./B.S. degree and completion of at least one year of a Ph.D. program; or a B.A./B.S. degree and at least two years of teaching experience at the college level. Equivalent foreign degrees will be considered.
- Experience with providing instruction in an educational environment (e.g., instructor of record, teaching assistant, etc.)
