Position description
The UCSC Writing Center invites applications for an associate director. Under the supervision of the Faulty Director of the Writing Center, the associate director oversees the Writing Center (WC), a program of moderate complexity, which serves all of the colleges of UC Santa Cruz and the Graduate Division. The associate director independently coordinates and manages the following areas for the Writing Center:
Supervision
- Hires and supervises tutors.
- Schedules tutoring sessions & workshops.
- Trains and manages professional development of tutors.
- Supervises all other staffing (contractors and student employees) for WC
Operations & Strategic Planning
- Budget management
- Tracks tutor hours and cost centers
- Liaises with divisional financial analysts to coordinate multiple financial centers supporting the WC (UE, DSASS)
- Supports budget planning process
- Fundraising & Development (supporting Provost and Deans)-
- Supports grant writing process
- Liaises with grant program staff (VOCES, SFAC, others)
- Represents center operations in university reporting processes (VOCES, UE, SFAC)
Reporting & Program Evaluation
- Produces annual report
- Oversees data collection and analysis
The position will require the associate director to demonstrate excellence in writing by providing published reviews of their work, awards, or other forms of recognition.

Qualifications
MAY NEED TO REVISE
- Five years’ program management experience.
- Master's degree or higher (or equivalent foreign degree).
- Grant writing and development experience.
