Position description
The Department of Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a project scientist. Under the direction of Professor William Sullivan, the project scientist will contribute to a research program investigating host-pathogen interactions and chromosome dynamics.
Duties will include designing and executing experiments, writing up results for publication, and training students and junior staff. The selected candidate will be expected to stay current with the scientific literature in the field and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and grant proposals. This position will require excellent organizational skills and the ability to successfully work as a member of a diverse, interdisciplinary research team.
Applicants with any of the following qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply: experience with Drosophila genetics, protein purification, alpha-fold bioinformatics, and fixed and live fluorescent microscopy.

Qualifications
- PhD degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in biology or a related field.
- Must have at least five years’ experience with techniques in molecular genetics and cell biology.
