Position description
Porter College at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach Porter non core/ enhancement courses in one or more of the following subject areas: arts, engineering, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. Successful candidates will be expected to teach 2-credit or 5-credit courses in their area of expertise.
Porter College is especially dedicated to fostering achievement in the arts and humanities. Applicants with any of the areas of expertise or qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Expertise in art history, creative writing, dance, environmental art, film and video, literature, philosophy of art, photography, theater arts, and visual art.
- College-level teaching experience and/or experience teaching first-year university students.
- Demonstrated record of working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of social, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the inclusive excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other assigned duties.

Qualifications
M.A/M.S. degree (or equivalent foreign degree); or two years of artistic and creative work, consisting of publications, performances, exhibitions, or installations; or two years of scholarship published in print or web-based media.
